Poverty Rate and HDI Report to the Mayor

On Friday, 18 December 2020, BPS Semarang Municipality reported the poverty and HDI figures to the Mayor of Semarang, Hendrar Prihadi. The poverty rate has increased (4.34 percent) while the HDI rate has decreased (83.05) compared to the conditions in 2019. This is due to the decline in people's purchasing power due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Semarang City, with its economic power sources in the secondary and tertiary sectors, has had a very strong impact. The collapsing of industrial, construction and tourism businesses resulted in a decline in people's income and a decrease in people's purchasing power.
