BPS Semarang City Helps YSKI Students Turn Data into Meaningful Insights

On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Head of BPS Semarang City, Rudi Cahyono, SST., M.Si., together with the Statistics Dissemination Team of BPS Semarang City, served as speakers at the Research Week for Grade 9 Students of SMP Kristen YSKI Semarang.

Held at the Sinalai 5 Hall of SMP Kristen YSKI, the session focused on appropriate methods for collecting data from the surrounding environment and transforming data into meaningful insights. The topic was part of the school's research activities designed to introduce students to practical approaches to conducting research.

During the session, BPS Semarang City introduced the importance of data in understanding various phenomena in the surrounding environment. Students were encouraged to explore the process of collecting relevant data, ensuring that the information meets their research needs, and processing and presenting the data to generate meaningful information.

The activity also showed students that statistics are not merely about numbers and tables. Statistical thinking can be used to answer questions, examine evidence, and better understand issues encountered in everyday life.

Through its participation in Research Week, BPS Semarang City contributes to strengthening data literacy and evidence-based thinking among students, while introducing statistics in a practical and engaging way to the younger generation.
